The Building and Development Branch at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has an exciting summer opportunity for a student interested in gaining practical experience to supplement their education. This branch is responsible for the administration of the Building Code Act, 1992 and the Building Code and specific functions include Building Code and policy development, Code interpretation, training, qualification and registration of building practitioners and support for the Building Code Commission (BCC) and Building Materials Evaluation Commission (BMEC).

You will: assist the Building Code Advisors on a variety of projects including the development of the next edition of the Building Code, provide building advisory services, and coordinate the Qualification and Registration program. You will also assist with conducting Building Code research, provide support and prepare materials for stakeholders meetings, and maintain databases, client lists, and a technical reference library.

Qualifications:good research and communication skills to assist with conducting research and writing reports; good analytical skills to assess, and analyze information; organizational and time management skills to ensure data integrity and support competing priorities; and technical skills related to building science.

Eligible candidates must be a student in a secondary school, college or university and be eligible to work in Canada ; students that are finishing their final year at school are eligible to apply for a period of six months following the completion of the requirements for graduation from an educational institution.
