$1000 from Pricewaterhouse Coopers for black high-school students interested in accounting

Joint Ontario Black History Society – PriceWaterhouse Coopers Scholarship

The Ontario Black History Society (OBHS) is eager to work with Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to provide an educational experience for young people.  In cooperation with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, a $1000 scholarship, to be awarded to black students in their final year of high school, who aspire to a career or will enrol in a program in chartered accountancy at a post-secondary institution will be made available.


Applicant must be a Black Student who is:

  • A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • Between 17 to 25 years of age as of September 1stof the year in which the scholarship is applied for
  • Enrolled full-time in last year of High School, diploma or certificate program at an accredited Canadian college, or university for the academic year commencingin 2010. Students commencing their studies in the fall are eligible.


  • High academic achievement
  • Compelling interest in the field/Financial need
  • Recognized contribution to the Black community


  • Complete current contact information for applicant
  • A completed 250 to 750 word letter of application describing the reasons why youwould be a worthy recipient of the OBHS &PwC Scholarship. (Include your contribution to the Black community, other volunteer activities, your academic achievements, yourmost important accomplishments and your future goals.)
  • Letters of reference from two individuals (e.g. One must be a teacher and another froman individual, other than your teacher or a family member, who is familiar with yourcommunity service.)
  • An updated copy of official transcript
  • Two passport size photos – head shot (once submitted these photos will be theproperty of the OBHS & PwC Scholarship Fund)

All application materials must be submitted by Jan. 15, 2010 before 4:00 p.m. addressed to:

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the complete application is
submitted on time.  Only hard copies delivered to the OBHS will be considered.

NOTE: The Scholarship Committee thanks all applicants for their submissions, but only the scholarship recipient will be contacted by the OBHS. Should the awardee not reside in the Toronto area and/or be unable to attend the OBHS Brunch on Jan. 24th, 2010, the awardee may name a designate to accept the scholarship on their behalf.
